The data show that the temperatures in New York are low at the beginning of the year. However, the temperatures increase from February to August, which is the month with the highest average temperature in a year. After peaking in August, the temperature begins to drop towards December. February is the month with the lowest temperature. Another trend that is evident in the data is the increase in average precipitation from January to August when precipitation reaches its peak before it begins to drop. February has the lowest amount of precipitation among the twelve months.
Based on the trends identified regarding the temperature and precipitation, it is appropriate to claim that New York should expect more precipitation when its temperature is high.
