When we bring individuals together from diverse backgrounds in a work environment conflict can arise when expectations are not realized or met. Rather than hoping conflict will go away, this paper will explore and identify the reasons for conflict and how to successfully address them in a team environment.
Write a four page paper (excluding title and reference pages) assessing the components of conflict. The following need to be addressed within your paper:
•Describe a conflict within an organization or team with which you are familiar.
•Identify and describe the source(s) and level of the conflict and support with evidence.
•Describe the steps taken to resolve the conflict or, if it is an ongoing conflict, propose steps to resolve the conflict.
•Describe a minimum of three conflict outcomes that could reasonably occur as a result of the conflict resolution. Support your reasoning for each possible outcome.
The paper must use a minimum of three scholarly sources, in addition to the text provided.
This assignment requires you to have an example. You are to describe a conflict within your organization or team. Please use your organization or a team, it should serve as the foundation for your paper. If you are not using a team or organization to do your analysis, you are not meeting the terms of the assignment. I should clearly see a conflict that is happening in the organization or team. Remember, because you call it a conflict does not mean it is one. I need to read, understand and see that the information you are presenting is indeed a conflict within the organization or team, therefore, you need to describe the conflict and provide enough details for me to understand that there is a conflict.
You need to identify the source and level of conflict. Please make sure you do both as they are 2 different things that need to be addressed. Most only provides a level of conflict. Please make sure you read Chapter 7 to understand the source and level of conflict. Please support your reasons. I recommend that you say the source of the conflict is… the level of conflict is… to ensure you address both. Again, the textbook can help you identify the source and level. Make sure you are using the information under source and level of conflict vs the type of conflict.
Next, you provide steps to resolve the conflict. Use conflict resolution steps to help you. You need to apply the steps to the conflict to resolve it. I understand your organization maybe be resolving a conflict currently, you can use that example but make sure you apply the elements of the assignment and not the elements your organization used. If the 2 do not match, points will be deducted for not carrying out the assignment as described even if it worked for your organization. The last portion which many do not do correctly is provided 3 possible outcomes (positive, negative, or indifferent. win-win lose-lose, win-lose) as a result of you implementing the steps. Make sure you completely describe 3 separate outcomes. Look at the textbook, it gives 3 possible scenarios that could happen. Please support your reason, you cannot provide an outcome without giving a reason for the outcome. This is also an area that many forget to do.
